Kauai Part I

Aloha! In December Jaimie and I travelled to Kauai, one of the islands in Hawaii.  It was an impulse trip, we needed a quick getaway to take in some sun.  Jaimie called me from the bar one night about a month before before we went away.  He had had a few drinks and told me to book it right away!  We didn't really think about it at the time, but the next day we figured we should Google "weather in December in Kauai." The forecast was rain, rain, rain.  Luckily we had amazing weather while we there with only a few light rain showers.

Kauai was absolutely magical, we had so much fun exploring the island in our Jeep rental (I want one for home now!).  Our days were jam packed with adventures and lots of photography!  Jaimie is learning how to use my camera and is getting really good, now I can finally prove that I was actually on vacation with him because I have photographic proof!

I had to split my post into two parts because I haven't finished editing all our photos.  This captures day 1, when we drove to Waimea Canyon on Route 550 and kept driving all the way to the end of the road on the West Side.  On our way back we made a stop at Salt Pond Beach to take in the sunset.  Day 2 we planned a hike on Kauai's East Side but got rained out so we drove up to Hanalei and the North Shore.  On our drive back we were in a few minutes of heavy rain that cleared quickly, and the sun started peaking out from behind the rain clouds.  After pulling over on a small side road, Jaimie discovered a hidden pond where we saw the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen.  Seriously.

Part II will be up soon, but in the meantime check out our pictures of Kauai by clicking on the image below. Mahalo!
